I grew up around wild places, always on the outskirts. As an adventure junkie, I've seen a healthy chunk of the planet. I'm most in my element in spaces just past the middle of nowhere. Yet, it wasn't until being dropped into Alaska that I really understood the meaning of wilderness. There, the simultaneously chilling and exhilarating sense of staggering isolation is always in the back of your mind. Alaska is not mankind's territory. It's a fine place to experience our planet as an ecosystem. Trained in long-form narrative journalism and filmmaking, I've been tasked with the honor of helping to tell that story.
