I paddled the Copper River with a group of biologists in the late 90s and was captivated by the place. It took graduate school, work as an environmental writer and editor, a federal grant, and the happy coincidence of sitting next to a board member for the Prince William Sound Science Center at a wedding reception for a story to come together.

I have wondered how we might experiment with different story models if we took a group of students to Cordova to work on the details of what climate change looks like, and what we’re doing here is just that.
